Project Overview

New Variety Decorators (P) Ltd. is a 35-year-old company with extensive experience in exhibition design and top-end business conferences, including work on events like the India Today Conclave. With a total built-up area of around 13,500 sq. ft., the brief called for a facade that would read as genuinely corporate while still reflecting the nature of the client's business — a company whose work is fundamentally about staging and visual presentation.

Facade & Massing

The elevation is built around a composition of distinct volumetric forms rather than a single flat plane, giving the building a sculptural quality suited to a client in the business of spectacle.

  • Curved Corner Volume: A rounded tower volume, clad in white composite panels with alternating bands of blue glazing, anchors one corner of the building and softens what would otherwise be a hard street edge.
  • Angular Glazed Insertions: Adjacent to the curved volume, a series of sharply angled glass bays — tilted and staggered rather than flush — break the facade into an irregular, layered composition.
  • Red Accent Piers: Vertical bands of red cladding run between the glazed sections, providing a strong graphic contrast against the white panels and drawing the eye toward the entrance below.
  • Mixed Massing at Street Level: The ground floor combines a covered entry, a shutter-fronted service bay, and a stepped approach, keeping the building functional at grade while the more expressive massing plays out above.

“"A 35-year-old exhibition design company doesn't need a quiet office. The brief was a corporate identity, but one that could still hint at a business built on staging and spectacle."”
